CBT for Hypermobility, PoTS & Anxiety

Yes they are linked!

The number of people who attend our clinic for anxiety who turn out to also be hypermobile and/or have Postural Tachycardia Syndrome is striking.  Many didn't even know their double jointedness, party tricks or weird dizziness on standing could potentially be symptomatic of a complex and under diagnosed condition.  These conditions impact in various ways the emergence and subjective experience of anxiety and it is not uncommon for people to be misdiagnosed with anxiety disorders when actually the picture is more complex, with traditional talking therapies being less effective leaving sufferers feeling frustrated and more anxious.

Here we specialise in educating people on the relationship between the two, working with individuals and their specific symptoms.  We use psychotherapy to help you understand how this link will have strengthened over the years through the unique combination of nature and nurture, and then incorporate CBT techniques specifically targeted at the hypermobile and/or PoTS body to help put you back in control of your experiences with anxiety and every day worries.
