Frequently Asked Questions
What is your new client procedure?
When you book your first appointment with us, you will be asked for a brief summary of what you are seeking help for which helps our therapist to prepare for your assessment before you arrive. If you would prefer not to do this simply indicate to our secretary. You will be sent a couple of forms to complete and return by email including GDPR consent.
What should I expect at my first consultation?
Adult consultations enable yourself and the therapist to discuss what is going on for you and how they will approach things to help you. Forms will have already been sent to you to complete and return where appropriate and the therapist will gather more details from you in the session.
It is then up to you if you would like to commence with a block of treatment. It is important you feel comfortable with the therapist you work with so these consultations are designed to give you a feel for therapy before you commit and delve deeper into your thoughts.
What should I expect at my child's first consultation?
Every child and family is different and we are flexible in response to that. For a young child consultations will always be with the child and parent or if preferred these can be with just the parent.
For older children it is most common for us to split the consultation with the first half being with the child and parent and the second half just the child. This is to enable the child share additional thoughts and see how they feel with the therapist.
Our therapy rooms are designed to be relaxed and soothing rather than clinical and formal which is especially good for children.
I have a fear of dogs - how will I know if Peppermint will be around during my appointment?
Any client who has a fear or dislike of dogs has it noted on their appointment and therapists ensure Peppermint is in another room during their appointment. This is never a problem and is something that is often done for clients.
